I love finding caddisfly larvae! They make the most amazing structures from leaves and rocks, plus they’re bizarre looking insects when you get them naked:
This photo gives me the impression of a cat, stoned out of its little furry mind on catnip, about to launch an attack on an unsuspecting passerby from its hiding place on top of a bookcase. Can’t you just see it going, “AAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!” as it flings itself into your hair? :)

No wonder your husband is scared of insects!!
Why – because I bring bugs like this into the house, or because I give him bad mental images of what those bugs might do? :)
Oh, gee – I dunno – “launch an attack on an unsuspecting passerby from its hiding place on top of a bookcase. Can’t you just see it going, “AAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!” as it flings itself into your hair?” (but don’t worry, Honey?) Just when you thought it was safe….
Heh heh. That’s what I thought! You know, I don’t actually tell my husband these things. I keep my crazy ideas to myself at home – or at least assure him that it’s just my own personal spin and a caddisfly larva would never make its way into his hair. He doesn’t read my blog either, so I think I’m good. :)
Love it! What a bizarre looking little critter.
I know, right? I think caddisflies are fabulous with all of those legs crammed up in the front. Makes them look really funky when they’re out of their cases.
I’m thinking it’s just being bashful considering it’s in the “nude”! Ninja caddisflies are a pretty appealing mental image though…
Perhaps! It does normally have a little suits of rocks on when out in public.
