Most years when I head out into the 100 degree, super humid days of the southern Arizona monsoons to do my field work, everything looks pretty brown and crispy in spite of the rains. Last summer, it rained SO much that I could barely do my work, but just look at what sprung up at one of my field sites:
So pretty, so heavenly, so unusual. Love it!

Thanks! It was SO gorgeous out there that day. What wasn’t so gorgeous was what happened when my grass allergies kicked in and I ended up with rashes all over my legs. I wear shorts to a field site for maybe the 4th time ever and there’s the most magnificent tall grass I’ve ever seen growing all over. Figures…
