Insect antennae can be very beautiful. Case in point, the antennae on this atlas moth in one of the butterfly houses I’ve visited:
The moths are quite impressive overall, but just look at those enormous plumose antennae! Impressive.

I’m impressed by how much the antennae look like feathers and ferns. Patterns get put to multiple uses.

Plumose … that’s the word for it! I love the antennae so much. What great little detection organs. Great image.
They really are pretty cool, aren’t they? Insect antennae take on so many variations, but I think these are some of the most impressive.
