  1. These guys are just about the most common dragonfly in my yard, with the possible exception of the green darner (Anax junius). I even use a picture I took of one as my facebook profile picture (click on my name to see it).

    They’re always so eager, buzzing around, looking for bugs to eat. Gotta love any animal that wants to come to my yard and eat mosquitoes.

    • Exactly! I LOVE having dragonflies in my yard! Free pest control as far as I’m concerned, plus they are incredibly beautiful insects to have flying around. And just because they’re common doesn’t make them any less exciting for me! I see thousands of blue dashers and pondhawks every year, but I still love them.
