Surprise! It’s a moth!
Black waved flannel moth
A black waved flannel moth, to be specific. Rather cute, don’t you think? I’d never seen a moth that fuzzy before, but I suppose it really shouldn’t come as a surprise. The caterpillars are super furry too!

How big is the caterpillar/the adult?
The caterpillar is just over an inch at full length, and the moth is about an inch long. Not very big, but not tiny either.

OK, I was going to guess “aging Golden Retriever” but that didn’t make sense for the Dragonfly Woman’s blog :-) What a gorgeous moth!
It really DOES look like golden hair, doesn’t it? That’s why I loved this moth when I saw it.
